Biography

The name is Andrea. I don't live in alleys and neither could I be found there.I live in St. George, Utah. I'm in love with Martin Medina and my son Tristan Medina They're famous, like obviously you'll know who they are. My husband is in the Army stationed in Fort Irwin, I miss him dearly. I'm a die-hard fan of White, Pink and Gray. Not much of Black or Brown . Zebra Cakes and Code Red are my two best friends, they're always by my side whenever I need them. My greatest enemies are Liar, Backstabber, Hypocrite and Nag. I hate them alot. The world would be sucha better place without them all.

Wow we have been very busy lately! First off, we gave away our dogs on Saturday :( I'm very upset but they went to a doggy ranch so I know they'll be very happy and taken care of. We had to give them away because I'm moving back to Utah to go to school and Martin is joining Special Forces so he'll be moving to North Carolina. It's going to be very hard to be apart but we survived a deployment so I think we can take on anything! This is all happening in two weeks! Martin will be leaving for selections, so while he's gone for a month I'll be looking in St. George for apartments. I will be moving our things slowly in september so when Martin gets back at the end of September he won't have to worry about us and moving everything. I also need to find a job and a daycare for Tristan... ugh, where do I start?! I'm pretty excited for school though. I'll be going to Dixie State College for Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA). I haven't been in school for.... oh gosh how long has it been?? 2 and a half years! Jeepers! So on top of all of this going on I have several events to attend, both in California and Utah. I have Tristan doctor appt. here on the 2nd, then I'm dropping martin off at the airport in Las Vegas on the third so I'm going to drive to Utah from there. Then on the 11th I have to drive back to Cali for a friend of mines passion party (ooh la la!). So I'll load up the truck again while I'm here because I have to drive back to Utah for two things on the 18th. I have a friends baby shower then another friends birthday party that night! I'm going to be sooo exhausted. Everyone pray that I don't die from stress!

Tristan REFUSES to sleep in his crib. The first year of his life was spent in Kentucky (where he was born) and he had no problems with sleeping. At 2 weeks old he was sleeping through the night in his own crib. But when we moved here we had to live with Martin's parents for a month until we got our new place. They took Tristan into their own bed at nights so he got used to sleeping in bed with someone. I don't really blame them, they only seen him once the first year of his life but I'm really in a pickle here. Now he's been sleeping between me and Martin and it's really getting old. So we started by just putting him in there and trying the "cry it out" method... total FAILURE! That boy is soooo stubborn. He'll cry for as long as it takes for me to give in and sometimes he'll scream until he just about pukes. One night he cried for over an hour!! I tried to get into a routine like bathing him, reading to him, then putting him to bed but that didn't seem to work at all either. And when we actually get him to sleep on his own, he wakes up like 2 hours later and screams. Then we can't put him back in his crib because he gets his hands wrapped up in my hair with a death grip. I'm really frustrated, I could cry. I don't know what else to do. I've been googleing ideas all day and everyone has the same advice: cry it out or the routine thing. Great. I don't know what else to do. I guess we're just gonna have to keep up the cry it out thing and hope that someday it works.

For those of you who don't know, while Martin and I were only dating he (19 years old) was deployed to Iraq for a year in 2007. He got a 2 week leave about halfway through. After the two weeks were over and had to leave, we ran into a big mess. I won't be telling you the story because it turns out that the story had gotten a little bit of fame. It's a little bit exaggerated but true (you know how the media is). I totally forgot about it, but when I stumbled across it today I had to share with everyone!

Solider Makes It Back On Time

Patriotism speaks in many ways.

In September, it spoke clearly through a group of local private

pilots and airline passengers when they pulled together to help a

soldier rushing to make an appointment more than 7,000 miles away.

That's roughly the distance from Camp Shelby to Iraq, where Army

soldier Martin Medina was headed. He faced a twofold problem.

Having missed a flight from Texas, he was running late. He was also

running low on cash.

Timing was everything because Medina, who had been on leave, was

scheduled to rejoin his unit and leave Camp Shelby almost

immediately for duty in Iraq. That's when the Mississippians came

in.

It was a Wednesday afternoon. Medina, of Texas, was aboard a

Southwest Airlines flight from Dallas to New Orleans. The flight

was scheduled to land in New Orleans at 4 p.m.

Diamondhead resident Mario Feola was just settling in on the

same plane when a flight attendant made an announcement: A soldier

aboard needed to travel to Camp Shelby from New Orleans, but he was

out of money. He had learned cab fare from the airport would be

$220.

Fellow passengers started chipping in and within minutes, they

raised $800. Feola was worried that even with the money, a cab ride

from New Orleans would not allow the young soldier to reach Camp

Shelby by his deadline.

Feola was willing to drive Medina to Camp Shelby, but that still

left a time crunch.

"That's why the whole movement was so critical," Feola said.

Before the plane left Dallas, he used his cell phone to call

fellow pilots back home. He reached Diamondhead pilot Jay Botsay,

who then helped him reach Fred Kleppner and his son, Kiln resident

Tim Kleppner. Both are pilots.

The junior Kleppner happened to be at the Picayune Airport that

day. He, in turn, reached his father, who flew to Picayune and

picked him up. They arranged to meet at the Slidell Airport with

Feola, who whisked Medina off the Southwest flight and drove him to

Slidell.

Other passengers stayed seated to allow the two off first. Some

were still thrusting money at Medina as they left the plane.

"They clapped and wished him good luck," Feola wrote in a

personal recollection. "As we ran up the gangway, we could still

hear the clapping. 'God bless America' was heard everywhere."

Recently, Feola said his own background as a former soldier and

private business experience with the military prompted his actions.

"I'm a flag waver," he said. "I'm ex-military, and when I saw

that, it just re-instilled my faith."

He said Medina, who is in Army security, was in his early 20s,

and that also struck a chord.

Tim Kleppner said he and his father happened to be in the right

place at the right time that day.

There was no hesitation when they had the chance to help a young

soldier headed for the front, especially when the request came from

fellow pilots.

"It's an unwritten thing about pilots. We all stick together,"

he said.

When the Kleppners touched down at Hattiesburg, darkness was

approaching and they had to fly back. They left behind a relieved

soldier, one they assume caught a cab the 30 miles from Hattiesburg

to Camp Shelby.

Another happy footnote: When the Southwest passengers finished

contributing, Medina had about $1,000. He told Feola he plans to

spend part of the money on an engagement ring for his girlfriend.

The rest will be put away for college. After the military, he hopes

to attend medical school.

"It's difficult for me to put into words the feelings, teamwork

and love for our country that came forth that evening," Feola

said. "I know Martin was overwhelmed and would have a wonderful

story to tell his comrades. We wish him well and hope to hear from

him soon.

Today when I was listening to music and cleaning the house, Tristan got a little crazy with the Lean Like a Chollo song... so I thought I'd record him and share his cute dance moves with everyone! p.s. feel free to ignore my annoying voice.

Martin is a very healthy young man. He eats right and exercises obsessively! I eat crap food and drink soda; every now and then I'll get on Wii Fit. I have a MAJOR sweet-tooth too. Before I had a baby, eating this way had no negative effect on my body. But now.... whooooeeee one spoon of ice cream is like 2 pounds on my booty... no bueno. Before I was prego I weighed 116... I know weigh 128... icky. So this week Martin decided we would all eat healthy. Anyone who really knows me would say "Oh great, Andrea without her sugar is a ticking time bomb." So our meals for this week are either steak or chicken with plain white rice, and plain salad. I refer to it as rabbit food. Martin says he likes to eat healthy... YEAH RIGHT! He only likes the benefits of eating like this. No one LIKES to eat this crap! If you could be super hot and skinny no matter what you ate, what would you choose? rabbit food, or a delicious bacon burger and fries with a soda?? Yeah, that's what I thought. Yesterday I ate oatmeal for breakfast and salad with carrots for lunch and drank nothing but water all day. So by dinner time, I was done. I refused to eat the gross steak and the flavorless rice! I decided to starve. Martin and Tristan ate their rabbit food. Eventually Martin was like "okay, you win. I'll go buy you a pizza." And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how being spoiled wifey is done!

This past weekend we went to Utah for four days. Martin gets a four-day weekend from work once a month, and we normally use it to go to Utah for a visit. We left at about 2ish on wednesday and got there at about 6. For some reason, the drive seemed to last forever! Thank goodness it was finally over! Mostly we just hung out the first couple of days. Then on Friday we decided to go camping with my mom and stepdad. My mom and I really wanted to make some dutch oven potatoes... Martin and Johnny said they could survive on hotdogs. So all day on Friday they were bagging on us about how much crap we had to do to make these potatoes. pssshh... my mom and I both new that when they would smell those potatoes cookin, they'd be begging us to share. So we packed up the food, tent and fishing poles and headed to Baker Lake. When we got there my mom and I started the potatoes. Ooohhh man they were amazing. The men were still stubborn and stuck to their hot dogs, but every now and then they would glance over at our plates. After some night fishing we went back to the campsite and had some more to eat. By then our prediction came true and and they were both asking for a plate. haha we were to mean to say no. The next day we woke up and ate some breakfast. Then packed up the camp and headed out for some more fishing. Long story short, we caught nothing. But we had a ton of fun anyways and hopefully we'll do it again soon!
